Sloggi Art for Humanity 2008

A Charity Event with Malaysian Nature Society, Inter-College Body Painting Competition & The Hottest sloggi Fashion Show In Town!Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach, 23/8/2008 (Sat) - sloggi Art for Humanity was a charity beach party celebrating Fashion, Art, Music and Love all under one roof to support the green causes by Malaysian Nature Society (MNS).Besides being a charity event, sloggi Art for Humanity also presented the Inter-College Body Painting Competition and many were intrigued by the serene nature-inspired body painting designs that complemented the sloggi's 2008 collection. The finalists were judged by celebrity judges such as Monica Lee (Award Winning Face Art Artist), Steven Sunny (Award Winning Stylist) and high profile judges such as Adeline Choo (Malaysian Nature Society Representative/Miss Malaysia 2006/2007), editors from the magazines together with sloggi Product Manager, Doris Gwee. Judging was based on the most positive messages sent through the artwork in relation to “saving the nature” and its artistic design to rejoice with the sloggi bras. The public also had the chance to vote for their favourite via SMS.
CORLISS CHUAH from Taylor’s University College with the theme “Only One Earth” – inspired by sloggi Vintage collection walked away RM 3,000 cash and with hands full of prizes worth RM300 each from the sponsors. Her painting defines animals should be protected from human activities. Also inspired by sloggi Vintage bra colour that comes in black & white represents whatever is seen will be in the past; a flashback. “So, let us all unite and make this world a better place before it’s too late.”
Sexy sloggi tops and briefs with unique and funky prints designed by Kurasa Raksasa were for sale along the beach and part of the profit made from the selling is channeled to MNS. The crowd also had a splendid time partying with music artists. At the MNS booth, there were also some fun eco-conscious activities such as live demos on how to recycle your old materials into something fanciful! Once again, a charity event doesn’t necessarily spell out B-O-R-I-N-G!

These pics were taken in the body painting competition preview at Sungei Wang Plaza and the finale at Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach :

Words from Sloggi:
We Got The Champion!
It was tough for us to pick Top 10 from over 400 entries! All of them were strong, bold & fun just like sloggi's character itself! Congrats to the Winner for the brilliant design! Barbeque party

This was strictly G8 2008 only! lol..Our first ever class gathering outside college. Exact location: Megan's house. I think our whole class went including our lecturers, Ms. Param, Mr. Ng, Ms. Sheena, and Ms. Azreena. Those who reached earlier started firing up the barbeque pits with charcoal..and fire of course. I was there too from the start till almost the end. Most of the girls reached earlier(cause we're hardworking lol) to help out with the pits and set up. I helped to cucuk the chicken wings :D but I didn't eat them, sadly.

When the sky start to darken, the guys started coming. Sai Mun brought along his hemispherical shaped barbeque pit. The guys pretty much helped Sai Mun to lit up the charcoals in his pit. Say Keng and Shao Yong were most of the time busy barbeque-ing the chicken wings and I, Corliss Chuah, cucuk 95.5% of the chicken wings (also got burnt by the cucuk thingy =.= urgh!)

Ms. Param bought us a Secret Recipe cake man! Chocolate Indulgence. oh chocolate! Ms. Param and Mr. Ng were the first two lecturers to reach. Later, comes Ms. Sheena. We ate and ate and drink. Some played badminton or table tennis while digesting and some(Kavitha and I) went for a little run.

It was getting pretty late and people started leaving. That's when Ms. Azreena came lol. She got lost. Well, we still had some food to go along :) drinks too. Khei Sze and I made a really cool remix of a song(don't remember what song was it) with her playing piano and I playing the electronic drums.

So, here are some snippets for you to see:

Jan 2008, College Life Begins here

3rd Jan 2008, first time ever to start a day at college..oh i'm growing..anyways, Taylor's University College. It was amazingly, awefully packed with SAM students only! This day's our orientation day, so it's just all about introducing and meeting new people and mentors and also new environment. It was a friday and many people looked so lost and alone while others already had friends from their old school.

First, we were told by our seniors to collect our student ID from classes according to the first alphabet of our name..Mine's C, so it's the classroom closest to the guard house and entrance. Met a girl with the same initials as me(CC) and almost the same sir name, how cool is that? Her name's Christine Chua and mine's Corliss Chuah. We walked and talked and introduced ourselves. Got lost together too. First stop was multipurpose hall(MPH), where the head of director, Mrs Ho Li Lin, comes up on stage to brief us a lil before entering our respective classes. ok, you don't have to know the details..it's too much..

After the briefing we were told to go to our temporary class. I accompany Christine to her class and headed off to mine. Was lost at first because I didn't know the row of classes facing the back existed. I was supposed to go to D26, but then i stopped in between D25 and D27 wondering where's my class..LOL..until i saw someone walking to the back, so i followed and found my class.

D26 here it is..I entered the class and smiled. 2 girls smiled back at me. I sat beside Tarini and started introducing myself to those sitting around me. Not long later, Yen Yin came into class and sat on my right. So naturally, i start talking to her as well.

Tick-tock tick-tock time passed and finally our mentor, Ms Yeap came in. When the class was pretty full, she introduced herself to us, and we took turns introducing ourselves to everyone else in the class. Suddenly some random guy comes into the class to snap some pics. We had a minor quiz about our classmates names, those who don't know a certain person's name would remain standing and those who got the name correct can sit. Nearly the whole class was standing. LOL.. We had also "elected" our class rep and assistant class rep. Why "elected"? because we didn't know each other, so 2 people volunteered. Sai Mun volunteered to become our asst. and Kavitha as our class rep. That's about it on orientation day. It ended at 12pm.

I met a few of my friends after everyone was released by their mentors. Met Henri at first, and then Christine later on. That's about it. no pics taken =(

Gold Expedition 2006

3rd-7th July. Mount Kinabalu's the highest mountain in the Southeast Asia and most of us managed to reached the peak! Congratz to those who made it! We had achieved our goal! it's just so cool, i could bet majority of us was gonna give up halfway but ALL of us made it to Laban Rata..last group to reach was a little b4 6pm..

So, here are some pictures from this year's Gold Expedition:

3rd July. Woke up at 3am coz i had to reach school by 5am. Checked my bag, ate breakfast n left home. I was so excited about the trip. Reached school and saw almost everyone there already. We took a group picture in our sweater(damn hot!) then, left for LCCT. Reached LCCT at about 7.30 am and had nasi lemak for breakfast there. By the time we departed, it was about 10am and arrived at Kinabalu airport at around 12pm. Collected our bags and left for lunch at Sri Melaka, we had seafood! i love the squid! My Groupies : Henrik, Shi Mei, Vivian, Natalie, Kia Shen, Syazwan and Henri =) After lunch, we went to Kinabalu Park and had a stop before that to buy our food supply for climbing. By the time we checked in at Kinabalu Park Hostel, it was almost dinner time. My roomies : Vivian, Natalie and Shi Mei =) We had a briefing about Mt. Kinabalu before dinner. For dinner, we ate at the Kinabalu Park Reataurant. Had a huge lump of rice n loadsa vegetable n overcooked beef =p hahah.. We packed our climbing stuff after dinner n went off to bed at 12am.

4th July. 4.00am, our alarm rang. Vivian's was damn long n loud! anyways.. we packed everything and brought our luggages out of the hostel, then off to breakfast. Arrived at Timpohon Gate at about 9.30 and did some stretching. Bought walking sticks which cost RM3. Had a group photo again and started our hike at 10am. We already started to get tired walking the 1st km. The first 4km(i think) was the easier part to climb because they were all steps. Henrik, Syazwan and I had lunch before we proceeded to the tough part, the really rocky part. Fried chicken wings, a hard boiled egg, 2 small slices of cheese sandwiches and a small banana each. We started climbing and Syazwan went waaay ahead of us(me n Henrik)and cought up with Henri and the people in front. On the way up, we met so many friendly climbers and chat with them for a while and continued our hike up. We reached Laban Rata at 2.35pm. Not bad, 7km uphill all the way and made it to Laban Rata within 4h35mins =) waited for the others for a really really long time. the last batch to reach was about 4hours after us!

to be continued...
